Shorter then You

Blood lined monsters that graze beneath us.
Slowly advancing backwards.
The gnomes paint the field in droplet dew.
The artists whisper lonely haikus.

And if you would like to sing
She will sing along, to your heartfelt song.
If only you would sing.

The shadows ripple across my face,
I lie awake, dying, Ive been dead for days.
We turn into the monsters crippled and full of hate
Though weve waited for so long to engage our fate.
And you leave with an empty feeling on your lips
I dont leave, shivering before you.
Another night lying here dead.
Another damn time, I lie awake in bed.

We look back to see what we once had
I never once knew, Without a shoulder to rest on.
Lying in the night, sprawled atop my lawn.
When my dreams and my nightmares mesh into one,
I awake lying on my side.
and I will see that you are gone.
